Hello, I'm Maria
I'm a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually evolved into a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't in the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something much bigger.
The opening months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and fresh expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more tricky than they should.
The Transition Phase
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created LilyGearMotor
Most online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow travel material. What was missing was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from living in Spain
- Focuses on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
What’s Next
Our time in Spain continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information is useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or anywhere in Spain, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Maria
